​Crash Information - Initial Release

Highway: I-94 EB
Location: 251.2 MP
County: DANE
At 3:29 PM on Friday July 17, 2020 a crash occurred on I-94 EB at 251.2 MP in DANE County near
DEERFIELD.

Assisting agencies included Dane County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office,
Marshall Police Department, Deerfield Fire, UW Med-Flight, Deer Grove EMS, Marshall EMS, and
Cambridge EMS.
The crash involved 1 fatality and 1 injury. Vehicle and occupant information, if available, is on the last page(s).

The details of the crash are as follows:

The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating a series of crashes that occurred this afternoon along
eastbound I-94 in Dane County near Deerfield.

At approximately 3:30p.m., officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash near the 251.2 eastbound mile marker.

Troopers made contact with the vehicles and advised that 2 individuals were injured. Officers from
Dane County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall Police Department, Dane
County EMS & Fire and Med-flight responded to the scene. All lanes were shut down both east and
westbound for the landing zone for Med-flight to land at the scene. While Med-flight was on scene
one of the injuries turned fatal.

Eastbound interstate I-94 continues to be shut down for the Technical Reconstruction Unit to
investigate the crash. This scene is still active. No names will be released pending notification of
family members.
